Mark Lovein - Varsity Assistant Coach

Mark makes his coaching debut with the Aztecs this
year, but is no stranger to the Men's volleyball program. Coach Lovein graduated from Esperanza in 2003 and played on
the Varsity team for three years. He played middle blocker for Coach Owens and helped lead his team to a CIF-Division
1 Championship in 2002. Following his graduation, Mark attended UCLA, graduating in 2007 with a degree in history.
As a Bruin, Mark played four years on the men's team as a middle blocker.
Damien Hoffman - Junior Varsity

Damien is in his 6th season at Esperanza as the Junior
Varsity Coach. He graduated from Esperanza in 2001 and played for Coach Owens as an outside hitter in Isaac's first
year of coaching the men's program. Damien attended Irvine Valley College, where he played volleyball for two seasons
under coach Tom Pestolesi as starting lilbero and back-up outside hitter. In the spring of 2004, he helped lead his
team to an 11-5 mark and a second place finish in the Orange Empire Conference. In 2005, he led the JV men's team to
a 13-4 record, a 3rd place finish in the Newport Tournament and a Sunset League championship.
Jeff Platt - Frosh/Soph

Coach Platt is in his 5th season at Esperanza as the
Frosh/Soph Coach. He graduated from Los Alamitos High School in 1988. He played volleyball and football for
the Griffins. He played in one CIF championship game and was voted First-Team All-League. He received a full scholarship
to play football at the University of New Mexico, where he played defensive end for the Lobos. Coach Platt earned his
BA in economics and is in his fourth year teaching Economics and coaching football at Esperanza.
