Mark Lovein - Junior Varsity Coach
This is Mark's second season at Esperanza as the JV coach and his
3rd year as the assistant Varisty Coach. Coach Lovein graduated from Esperanza in 2003 and played on the Varsity
team for three years. He played middle blocker for Coach Owens and helped lead his team to a CIF-Division 1 Championship
in 2002. Following his graduation, Mark attended UCLA, graduating in 2007 with a degree in history. As a
Bruin, Mark played four years on the men's team as a middle blocker. This is also Mark's first year on staff at Esperanza
teaching history. Mark is the JV coach and assistant Varsity coach for the girl's volleyball program.
Kevin Kowalski - Frosh/Soph Coach
....2010 marks Kevin's 1st year as the Frosh/Soph coach for the Aztecs Volleyball programs. Coach Kowalski played four years on Tustin High Schools Varsity volleyball team -
helping his team to a CIF runner-up victory in 1998. In addition to high school
volleyball, Kevin spent four years playing for Balboa Bay Volleyball Club, where his team took home a bronze medal at Junior
Olympics. Kevin attended Cal State Fullerton, receiving his BA in Ceramics; he
is now in his 1st year teaching Ceramics at Esperanza. Prior to coming to Esperanza,
Kevin was the head boys' volleyball coach at Valencia High School. In his spare time, he enjoys attending art shows and concerts, traveling (visiting
some 13 countries), and playing guitar.
Jon Watkins - Assistant JV Coach
Jon Watkins joined the Aztecs
JV Volleyball coaching staff this year. Jon graduated from Esperanza in 2009, having played volleyball all four years
and soccer three years. He is currently enrolled at Fullerton College working on his AA degree with plans to transfer
out of state to major in business economics and ultimately become a stockbroker. Jon enjoys coming back to watch
his younger teammates grow and help the coaches.
